During this period, Lindsay Lohan decided to concentrate on her musical career. Having been in the entertainment industry for most of her life, she received quite a few useful phone numbers over the years. Lindsay Lohan got back in the acting saddle with the critically and financially disappointing Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004). A few months later, she made everyone forget about it by starring in the hit Mean Girls (2004), alongside Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfried.

But when she performed "Rumors" -- the first single off the album -- on Good Morning America, rumors began to swirl that she lip-synced because there was a backing track playing.
